Financial Planning starts young

KUCHING: SEGi College Sarawak Accounting Club (SCSAC), a club under the Faculty of Business and Accountancy, organised a discussion session titled “Financial Planning Starts Young” which was held at the main campus on Friday 27^th July 2012.

The aim of this session was to enhance the student’s industrial knowledge on this matter and, as such, SCSAC invited financial planning expert, Mr. Victor Liew, Sales Manager-Core Banking of United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd to be the guest speaker for the event.

The discussion focused on the importance of saving in financial planning. According to Mr. Liew, Malaysians are generally unaware of the importance of having a sound retirement plan.

They need to be educated and disciplined toward their retirement saving and need to make saving a habit in their everyday life, starting at the young age in order to have financial security during their retirement.

“Mr. Victor Liew shared a lot of useful information for our future financial programme graduates to explore further during their studies”, said Madam Elina Tiu, Principal of SEGi College Sarawak.

“The students will benefit from the extra insights and knowledge gained into their field of study from an industry expert” added Tiu.

“SCSAC did a good job in organizing this event and provided a platform for the students to better understand financial planning”, added Tiu.

All programmes offered within the Faculty of Business and Accountancy are recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA).

SEGi College Sarawak also provides financial assistance in the form of study loans and scholarships for high achievers.

SEGi College Sarawak is inviting all new students to register for the coming August intake.

SEGi College Sarawak is also open to students registering for the September intake into University of Sunderland’ UK’s programmes, namely the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Business and Management 3+0 and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Accounting and Finance 3+0 programmes.
