PRESS RELEASE
Direct entry into UK honours degree for CAT, LCCI holders

KUCHING: CAT graduates and LCCI Diploma holders can now gain direct entry into a prestigious UK honours degree programme majoring in accountancy and finance.

The University of Sunderland is accepting these two qualifications as its entry requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accounting and Finance 3+0 programme, via its partner SEGi College Sarawak.

An added advantage is that graduates of this degree can gain a maximum exemption of 9 Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) papers when they graduate.

That leaves only 5 professional ACCA examinations to gain their ACCA membership, should they pursue this career option.

“This exciting new development means that students can gain multiple qualifications and still pursue an ACCA qualification,” said SEGi College Sarawak Principal, Stella Lau.

Graduates of this honours degree can gain maximum exemption of all the certificate-level papers and a range of managerial-level papers of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

It will also afford students other exemptions from other professional bodies like AIA and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).

In addition, UEC students with 5 Bs can enter directly into this programme which offers many career choices ranging from Accountancy to Wealth Administration in a variety of sectors like banking, estate management, unit trust, personal financial planning and corporate planning.

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accounting and Finance is awarded by the University of Sunderland, UK, so students pursuing the degree in Kuching will receive the same certification as those studying on-campus in UK.

The examinations and assignments are issued by the University so the standard of the qualification will be exactly the same as those choosing to fly to the university to pursue their degree there.

The only difference will be the cost between studying in UK and in Kuching. The estimated cost of studying in the UK is about RM70,000 to RM80,000 (including living expenses) per year.

Studying in Kuching will cost less than RM33,000 for the entire programme.

Students can apply for full PTPTN loan or opt for the interest free installment payment scheme. Free financial advice will be given during the SEGi Open Day this weekend, on December 18 and 19 from 9am to 4pm.

The February intake is on and those interested can call SEGi’s toll free number at 1-300-88-SEGI or 1-300-88-7344 or e-mail: infoswk@segi.edu.my for further information.

Be the greatest salesman in the world with Sales Guru Mandino’s secrets

KUCHING: There are many salesmen but there is always THE salesman, the one that outshines and out sells all the rest. The one that others wish they could emulate or learn his secrets.

Find out what the 10 secrets of that salesman’s success this Saturday at SEGi College Sarawak’s free mini lecture when it unveils the “Secrets of the Greatest Salesman in the World”.

Those who attend this once-in-a-lifetime event will have the chance to change their lives irrevocably for the better and put themselves on the path to becoming not just a great salesman but also a better person.

“These secrets are based on Sales Guru Og Mandino’s book ‘The Greatest Salesman in the World’ and his ten principles that enable a person to sell ethically, which will lead to prosperous and triumphant living,” said the College’s Vice Principal of Academic, Alan Tan.

“Each principle is designed to replace bad habits, built up over a lifetime, with good habits developed through a ten month process. Each principle is essentially life altering.

“Whether you are in sales or marketing, this mini-lecture is definitely not to be missed!”

Those who are in the sales and marketing industry should make a note on their calendar to attend this 2-hour mini-lecture at SEGi College Sarawak.

This mini-lecture will be held at the College’s Theatrette at Jalan Bukit Mata Kuching held on Saturday, December 4 from 2pm to 4pm.

“There will be only one mini-lecture left after this one,” said Tan. “All these mini-lectures, seven of them altogether, are for the benefit of the working adults.

“The remaining topic is ‘Effective leadership skills’ which will be held on December 18, 2010.”

He reminded working adults who are keen to gain an academic qualification that the College is offering them a special RM500 rebate off any of the course they choose to pursue in conjunction with the Adult Learners' Month.

SEGi College Sarawak has introduced eight exciting Executive Diploma programmes for the working adults to give them the opportunity to gain an academic qualification in only 18 months.

The Executive Diplomas are very affordable with fees from RM9,600 to RM12,200, and working adults can use EPF withdrawal to finance the programme. They also have a choice of paying by instalments at 0% interest.

The University of Sunderland (UK) Master of Business Administration will also be among the programmes that adult learners can choose from.
