A new career in banking

Banking industries has been with us since the dawn of trading. Over time, banking industries have developed in line with the needs of the business environment.

Within the industry of banking, Malaysia is one of the countries which is aggressively implementing Islamic Banking and Finance, currently ranking 5th globally in the Islamic Finance sector after United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar.

This rise of Islamic Banking Institutions in Malaysia has resulted in widened career scopes in banking industries.

While a career focussing in this areas is not new, the lack of professionals who are qualified in Islamic Banking and Finance makes graduates with qualifications specific to this field in demand.

Islamic Banking is also one area in the Government’s Key National Economic Area (NKEA) under the 10th Malaysia Plan’s Entry Pont Project (EPP) whereby they aim to provide the benchmark for minimum standards in Islamic Banking and Finance education.

SPM students who have a minimum of 3 credits and would like to pursue a career in the Islamic Banking industry can apply for SEGi College Sarawak’s Diploma in Islamic Banking (DIIB).

“Graduates with Islamic Banking qualification have a wider career perspective in both Islamic banking and conventional banking compared to graduates who only possess a conventional banking qualification,” said Madam Elina Tiu, the Principal of SCSwk.

The DIIB programme is recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA).

SEGi Sarawak makes a new wish on RED OPEN DAY

22 Feb 2013, KUCHING: SEGi College Sarawak (SCSwk) makes a new wish during Chinese New Year celebration on RED Open Day.

SCSwk believes that having a quality education as well as recognition by the Malaysian government is very important for anyone who pursues education and career thereafter.

“We are always dedicated to provide quality education and on this New Year, together, we will give extra efforts in order to provide the best education to our students”, said Madam Elina Tiu, Principal of SCSwk.

SCSwk has facilities ready for students who wish to pursue education such as a Simulation Ward for the Nursing programme, a Science Laboratory for the Medical Laboratory Technology programme, an Art Studio for the Design and Creative Arts programme and many more.

Law programmes are also available in SCSwk, plus with the availability of a Moot Court to compliment practical classes, law students are equipped with hands-on experience before they even graduate.

SCSwk encourages students to apply their theoretical knowledge and practical skills into practice. Therefore, most of SCSwk programmes are adopting an internship programme as a component of the syllabus. Students will have better experience in both class sessions and the workplace.

“Having a great text book and teaching materials is not enough to ensure quality education. Without passionate and experienced lecturers, the knowledge cannot be delivered in a great way. SCSwk lecturers are equipped with academic qualification and industrial experience to guide students in both their academic and career paths”, added Tiu.
